Welcome to “Girl Power,” a new Fleshlight blog series where we interview up and coming adult stars and get their take on female empowerment as well as other related issues.

In today’s post, we interview Brazilian-American pornstar, Carmen Caliente. She’s known far and wide on both PornHub and social media for her magnificent ass, amazing twerk control, and cute, innocent looks.

For Carmen, all signs point towards future pornstar greatness. She’s already been an AVN Trophy Girl for Best New Starlet and a One to Watch. She’s also currently working with studios like Elegant Angel and Evil Angel.

Even though she’s already accomplished a lot, we here at Fleshlight are certain that her best is still yet to come.

Keep reading for our exclusive interview with the beautiful Carmen Caliente.

Carmen, what does “Girl Power” mean to you?

“My definition of ‘girl power’ is the strength all women have together in the world when we are UNIFIED.

“What do I mean by this?

“For starters, women supporting other women in our day to day lives. This can be just a simple compliment or a vote for a female candidate running for office. These are just a few ways we can practice our girl power every day.

“Also, I think of this idea in a literal sense that we, as females, have POWER.

“The power to be successful.

The power to own and operate a business.

The power to vote.

The power to walk away.

And, most incredibly, the power to give birth!”

Women’s empowerment has become a more prominent theme in today’s society. How has that affected your perception of society, as a woman?

“It’s been incredibly liberating!

“In the past, a woman’s voice was turned down so that the man could be heard in her place. Now, with the progression of laws and culture, and (of course) the ever-changing world of social media, women are able to be heard far and wide!”

How has women’s empowerment changed the adult industry if at all?

“As with all changes in the adult industry, it is coming along slowly.

“However, it is very apparent that women are HERE and ready to be HEARD. Like many industries, although ours seems to be run by women (the stars), historically, the shots have nearly all been called by men.

“Today, more and more strong, capable women are shaping our sets and scenes to be incredibly fun safe lucrative spaces for us. A few of these female directors are Holly Randall, Jacky St. James as well as Joanna Angel. Them, along with other performers, like myself, are standing up today to make the sets they interact with both safe and fun.

“The women of our industry are more empowered now than ever before. It’s a beautiful thing to be a part of.”

Have you ever been in a situation where you found solidarity with other women?

“Yes. All of the time!

“As women, while tough as nails, we are also delicate flowers. We have emotions and circumstances that most (not all) men would understand.

“For example, I’ve just lately found myself in a situation I never thought I would be in-speaking out against someone who harmed me - something I thought would totally ruin my reputation when in reality, it led to the support from an army of women who had gone through incredibly similar circumstances.

“Together we all found solace in one another’s situations and now we are no longer alone and are instead able to band together, stronger than before.”

Society tends to pit successful women against each other, what are your thoughts on this?

“Yes, I’ve noticed and experienced this myself.

“At the end of the day, I think it boils down to society being incredibly competitive as it has always been.

“Honestly, I’m not well versed on this topic but my reaction to that would be to encourage more ‘girl power’ and unity among successful women in the spotlight.”

What advice do you have for young women, pursuing a career in the adult industry, or really any industry?

“I’d like to tell them to gain all the knowledge they can before making any decisions.

“Ultimately, the choices you make are always completely yours, but don’t decide until you’ve researched, read, and determined where this path will lead you. Listen to yourself, because ultimately you’re the one who will have to deal with the consequences.

“The sex industry is incredibly liberating and lucrative but I wouldn’t suggest it to everyone.

“Think of yourself in 5 years. Than 10. Not just the new shoes you want.

“In any career - the decisions that you’re going to make right now (age 18-22) are going to really shape how the rest of your life is going to play out so tread lightly, my loves.

“If you’re already in the industry, know your rights. Know that you don’t HAVE to do anything. Have fun but be IN CONTROL. Save your money, enjoy your youth, and become a young entrepreneur because that’s really what you are if you’re out here doing the damn thing!”
